Privacy policy

When you create an account we store your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name. That is the entirety of your personal information in our system.

When you save a link we store the URL, the page title, the full text content of the page (fetched via Jina Reader), a short AI-generated summary of that content, and a vector embedding used for semantic search. We also keep a count of how many links you have saved so we can enforce the free-tier limit.

We do not track your browsing. The Chrome extension only reads the URL and title of a tab when you explicitly click "Save to Sift." It does not run in the background or observe pages you visit without your action.

Your email is used to identify your account and, occasionally, to send transactional messages (for example, a confirmation if you upgrade your plan). We do not send marketing email unless you have explicitly joined the waitlist.

Your saved content (URLs, page text, summaries, and embeddings) is used solely to answer your search queries. When you ask a question, we retrieve the most relevant pages from your library and pass them to an AI model to generate an answer. Your content is never used to train AI models, never used to improve any product other than Sift, and never shared with anyone.

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.

Running Sift requires a small number of external services. Each receives only the data it needs to do its job.

• Clerk. Handles authentication. Stores your email and, for Google sign-in, your name.
• Amazon Web Services. Hosts the application, database, and AI inference via Bedrock. Your saved content lives in an Aurora database in the ap-southeast-2 region.
• Jina Reader. Fetches the full text of pages you save. Receives only the URL.
• Stripe. Processes payments when paid plans are active. Handles all billing data directly. We do not store card numbers or payment details.
• Loops. Manages the waitlist. Holds your email if you signed up for early access.

Your account and saved content remain in our database for as long as your account is active. If you delete a saved link it is removed immediately, including the content and embeddings we stored for it. If you want your account deleted entirely, email us and we will remove everything within 30 days.

We use cookies only to keep you signed in. We do not use analytics cookies or advertising cookies.

You can request access to or deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. We will respond to any request within 30 days.
